About Omeprazole Proton Pump Inhibitor, Substituted Benzimidazole, Anti-secretory,antiulcer. System of Action of Omeprazole is a proton siphon inhibitor and it is a prodrug. After organization it diffuses in to the parietal cell of the stomach and aggregates in the secretory canaliculi. In the acidic medium Omeprazole is changed over to sulfenamide. This sulfenamide covalently communicates with sulfhydryl (SH) bunch in the proton siphon (H+ K+ATPase) and hinders the trading of extracellular K+ for intracellular H+ particle. Omeprazole irreversibly hinders proton siphons action and diminishes gastric corrosive discharge.
