What is losartan/hydrochlorothiazide used for?

Losartan/hydrochlorothiazide is commonly used for the following conditions.

• To lower high blood pressure (hypertension) 
• To lower the risk of stroke in people with high blood pressure and left ventricular hypertrophy, which is a type of heart problem

Black people with both high blood pressure and left ventricular hypertrophy may not have a lower risk of stroke with losartan. 

Losartan/hydrochlorothiazide may also be used for other conditions as determined by your healthcare provider.
